Gyeongju: Trip 3
While I made friends, Jeff happens to be taller, skinnier and more social than I, so he made quite a few more friends than I, especially among the ladies. One of his friends, Ja-eun, invited us (I think I was always invited along with them so it would be "safe" and not a "date") to go with her and 2 of her friends to Gyeongju one more time, this time to catch the end of the Cherry Blossom Season and the Soju & Rice Cake Festival. Soju, for those of you who do not know, is Korea's drink and it is HARSH! As for rice cakes, I don't care what you do to them, they still taste like spongy wet blobs of bland ricey goo. Yuck! But I tasted a few (more soju's than rice cakes though ;-) ) because it was a cool festival. We rented bikes and rode all over the festival, it was nice. We even took a swan paddle boat ride which turned quickly into a joy ride of terrorization as me and Jeff harassed the other boats with games of chicken and howls and hollers. The kids loved it! I miss having kids freak out when they see me, Korean kids love Weagukens and I love playing with kids. The trip home sucked, there were so many people at the festival that we had to stand for an hour on a train, trying to balance as it rocked on the tracks, but all in all the trip was pretty damn cool. Ja-eun is pretty damn cool and her friends were nice.
