Revised Potestates Rules
And yet once again are my own visions of the Engel game, in this instance are the Potestates revised and added to. As with all else, take what you will from this section with only my hopes that you enjoy it and find it beneficial to your own game.
In all cases, Potestates no longer cost any hit points, instead they cause subdual damage to the Engel. When the subdual damage equals the number of remaining hit points the Engel has, he becomes staggered and can no longer take any full actions, only partial actions. When the subdual damage exceeds the number of remaining hit points the Engel has, he is knocked out and unconscious. Subdual damage heals naturally at a rate of 1 point / character level / hour. Like before, this causes no pain for the Engel, instead it invokes a strange euphoria. Unless otherwise stated, the use of any Potestas requires a full action, may require a Concentration check and may also provoke an attack of opportunity. Bonuses from Potestates may stack upon each other as long as the effects are not from the same Potestas from the same Engel. Added to the list are the Revelation Potestates, which an Engel may begin to learn at level 8. These do not come from additional tattooing, but from further mastery of a complete set of all three tattoos.
Signum Potestates of the Michaelites
Inner Calm [wis]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. This allows the Michaelite to remain calm
and focused during great stress or during battle. The result of the check determines
the duration, the effect is a bonus to all concentration checks for that duration.

20 (5 minutes), 30 (30 minutes). This Potestas may be activated as a free action

of opportunity, however it must be the only Potestas activated by the Engel
that round.
Soul of the Fellowship [wis]

terror of the divine creature. All who fail this save receive a moral penalty
to all attacks, saves and skill checks and most victims simply flee. Check:
10 (DC 10, -2 Pen), 15 (DC 15, -4 Pen), 20 (DC 20, -6 Pen), 25 (DC 25, -8 Pen),
30 (DC 30, -10 Pen).

fellowship must make a Will save (DC equal to the Potestas Check) or be overcome
by the holy grace of heaven itself. All who fail this save are overcome by the
grace of the Angelitic Church and convert instantly to faithful followers of
the Michaelite. Dreamseed are not completely immune to this Potestas, if they
fail their Will save they become confused for the duration. Check: 10 (5 rounds),
15 (1 minute), 20 (5 minutes), 25 (30 minutes), 30 (1 hour). It is very possible

damage with a critical of x2. Check: 10 (1 round), 20 (1 minute), 30 (1 hour).
Chalice of Vengeance [str]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. A Gabrielite may draw upon their righteous

strength at the cost of his focus and awareness. The trance lasts a duration
depending upon the check, during which the Gabrielite gains a bonus to his Str
and Con, but also a - 4 penalty to his Ac. This bonus is 4 + 1 for every 10
character levels. The Gabrielite will continue to attack anyone he is able,
including friends, cannot activate any new Potestates during the trance and
cannot prematurely end the trance. Check: 10 (1 round duration), 20 (1 minute

nearer to or even in the clutches of death.
Golem [con]

Scriptura Potestates of the Gabrielites
Judgement Day [con]

his fellowship so that he might fight on long after he should have fallen. Every
Engel within 5m takes 10 hp worth of damage (which they may resist with a successful
DC 10 fortitude save). The Gabrielite in turn gains an extra 10 temporary hp
for each Engel that contributes. The check determines the duration of the Potestas.
Check: 10 (1 minute), 20 (5 minutes), 30 (30 minutes).
Sacrificial Lamb [con]
Causes the death of the Gabrielite. This immolates the Gabrielite’s body,
causing an explosion that damages everything around him even as he is consumed
by the flames. The blast range is 10m, all those in the blast may take half
damage with a successful DC 25 Reflex save. Check: 1 (6d6 damage), 15 (10d6
damage), 25 (16d6 damage), 35 (24d6 damage).
Shield of Faith [con]
Causes 6 points of subdual damage. Allows the Gabrielite to absorb the energy
behind a successful physical attack and then reflect it as a shockwave of holy
power, causing damage as well as avoiding harm at the same time. Check: 10 (reflects
half damage from a normal attack), 15 (reflects half damage from a critical
attack), 20 (reflects all damage from a normal attack), 25 (reflects all damage
from a critical attack). This Potestas may be activated as a free action, but
may require a concentration check to use. It will not provoke an attack of opportunity,
however it must be the only Potestas activated by the Engel that round.
Revelation Potestas of the Gabrielites
Holy Wrath [con]
Causes 12 points of subdual damage. Summons the wrath and flames of heaven to
sheath the Gabrielite so that he might smote the enemies of God. Sheaths the
Gabrielite in flames protecting him and burning his adversaries. The flames
cause 3d6 damage, this is inflicted to all who attack the Gabrielite as well
as added to the damage caused by any melee attack the Gabrielite makes. The
Gabrielite also gains a +4 to his Ac as the flickering flames and heat waves
make it difficult to strike him effectively. Finally the Gabrielite gains a
physical damage reduction of 10 and immunity to fire damage. Check: 10 (1 round),
20 (1 minute), 30 (10 minutes).
Signum Potestates of the Raphaelites
All Seeing Eye [wis]
Causes no subdual damage. By touching a living being the Raphaelite may judge
its health and fitness. Check: 10 (sick or healthy), 15 (nature of injuries
or sicknesses, including symptoms, but not how to treat it), 20 (includes insight
on the best method’s of treatment. This would either give a bonus to other
rolls to heal the subject or give information on how to treat a rare illness).
Field of Bones [cha]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. Can animate dead tissue for a short time.
Touching the dead tissue is required only to activate the Potestas, not to continue
animating the flesh. Check: 5 (1 round, limited to a single limb or group of
muscles), 15 (1 minute, limited to a single limb or group of muscles), 25 (1
minute, limited to an entire single body, but only to the intact muscle structure).
Healing Hand [wis]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. Can mend wounds and induce rapid healing of
injuries with but a touch of the Raphaelites’ divine hand. The subject
must be touched and the healing takes one full minute, though the subject is
stabilized immediately. If used to heal a subject at negative hit points, it
will restore the subject to 1 hp max and the Raphaelite may not use this Potestas
upon himself. Hit points and ability points can both be healed, though not both
at the same time. Check: 10 (Stabilize mortally wounded subject), 15 (1d4 points
healed), 20 (1d6 points healed, causes an extra 1 point of subdual damage),
25 (1d8 points healed, causes an extra 2 points of subdual damage), 30 (2d6
points healed, causes and extra 4 points of subdual damage). A second attempt
to use this on the same subject may only be done after an hour has passed and
the subject has had a hearty meal.
My Body [int]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. With a touch of the Raphaelites’ divine
hands the abilities of another (cannot by used by the Raphaelite upon himself)
may be blessed to increase or cursed to wither. A touch attack must be successfully
made upon an unwilling target and a fortitude save can be rolled to resist with
a DC of the Raphaelites’ check roll. Only a single attribute can be effected
at once. The effects of the Potestas last for 1 minute. Check: 10 (+/- 2), 15
(+/- 4), 20 (+/- 6), 25 (+/- 8), 30 (+/- 10).
Sigil Potestates of the Raphaelites
Benediction [wis]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage for impregnation, 6 points of subdual damage
for healing infertility. By laying his divine hands upon a mortal woman, the
Raphaelite may restore lost fertility upon the woman (DC 20) and even induce
impregnation(DC 15). Touching a woman and a man at the same time will impregnate
the woman with the man’s seed. A male Engel may impregnate a woman with
his own divine seed. Use of this Potestas requires at least 1 full minute of
concentration and physical contact.
Bitter Bile [wis]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. With a touch of the Raphaelites’ hands
a poisoned victim may have the vile taint destroyed. This does not heal any
damage caused by the poison, but destroys the poison itself so that it will
do no more harm. The kind of poison must be known before this Potestas may be
used. The DC depends on the type of poison. DC 5 (Alcohol), DC 10 (Asp Poison),
DC 20 (Arsenic), DC 30 (Thaipan-Poison).
Heal Malady [int]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. With a touch of the Raphaelites’ hands,
disease may be cured or caused. The Raphaelite may only inflict or cure diseases
he is familiar with, though the all seeing eye can quickly reveal the disease
inflicting a victim. The DC of the roll depends on the disease, anyone inflicted
with disease may fight the infection with a successful fortitude check at DC
20. DC 5 (Cold), DC 10 (Influenza), DC 20 (Anthrax), DC 30 (Cancer / Aids),
DC 40 (Vitus-dance).
Thread of Life [wis]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. With but a touch the Raphaelite may inflict
or cure paralysis as well as sooth away the pain of a subject. Paralyzing an
unwilling subject requires a touch attack and the subject may avoid the paralyzation
with a successful Fortitude check at a DC of the Potestas check. Paralyzed subjects
cannot move for 1 full minute and feel no pain even though they remain fully
aware.
Scriptura Potestates of the Raphaelites
Ashes to Ashes [con]
Causes 6 points of subdual damage. With a mere touch of the enraged Raphaelite
the offending victim dissolves into a lifeless ooze. This requires a successful
touch attack, the victim must make a fortitude save with a DC equal to the Potestas
check. If successful the victim takes 3d6 damage, if unsuccessful the target
instantly dies as his body is reduced to a reddish goo. This Potestas affects
only living cells.
Grail of Life [con]
Causes 6 points of subdual damage. So long as the subject remains alive, the
Raphaelite may heal and restore wounded, lost or malformed limbs and organs.
The healing takes 1d8 days, but the Raphaelite need only touch the subject to
initiate the restoration. Check: 10 (restoration lasts only 1d20 days, after
which it returns to an unhealed state), 20 (full restoration).
Lazarus [wis]
Causes 10 points of subdual damage. By calling upon his divine birthright, the
Raphaelite may return life to the dead. This requires 10 minutes of contact
and a check roll, the body must be almost completely intact with little decay.
Missing limbs will heal over, but not be restored. The subject will return to
life with 1 hp, perhaps some altered attributes and no memory of his time while
dead. Check: 15 (subject revives with 1 less point in Constitution, will not
heal naturally and once again die in 1d20 days), 25 (subject revives with 1
less point in Constitution and is fully alive once more, however the Raphaelite
also permanently loses 1 point of Constitution), 35 (subject revives with 1
less point in Constitution and is fully alive once more).
Revelation Potestas of the Raphaelites
The Third Day [con]
Causes no subdual damage. By the grace of our Lord above the divine messengers
of healing may rise once more from the clutches of death here upon this wicked
earth. When the Raphaelite succumbs to injury (goes into negative hit points)
he falls unconscious as usual, but may make a reflexive Potestas roll for The
Third Day. Check: 10 (stabilizes instantly), 15 (stabilizes instantly and will
automatically regain consciousness in one hour), 20 (stabilizes instantly, automatically
regains consciousness in one hour and automatically begins to regain hp naturally
once conscious), 30 (when the Raphaelite regains consciousness he is not considered
“disabled”). The dying range for a Raphaelite with The Third Day
is either -1 to -9 or -1 to -Con, whichever is greater.
Signum Potestates of the Ramielites
Hair of Samson [wis]
Causes no subdual damage. The Ramielite can instinctively discover the weaknesses
of his opponents. The Ramielite gains an insight bonus to all attack rolls.
This bonus is 1 + 1 for every 2 class levels. Check: 10 (1 round), 20 (1 minute),
30 (5 minutes). This Potestas may be activated as a free action and does not
require a concentration check to use, nor will it provoke an attack of opportunity,
however it must be the only Potestas activated by the Engel that round.
Icon [int]
Causes 6 points of subdual damage. Can recall any event in perfect detail from
within the Ramielites’ Cathedral of Thoughts and then describe it accordingly.
This recollection lasts for a duration depending on the check, after which the
recollection fades away. Any knowledge gained from the temporary but perfect
recollection is not lost when the memory fades. Check: 10 (1 minute), 20 (5
minutes), 30 (1 hour).
Inner Calm [wis]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. This allows the Ramielite to remain calm and
focused during great stress or during battle. The result of the check determines
the duration, the effect is a bonus to all concentration checks for that duration.
This bonus is 1 + 1 for every 2 class levels. Check: 5 (1 round), 10 (1 minute),
20 (5 minutes), 30 (30 minutes). This Potestas may be activated as a free action
and does not require a concentration check to use, nor will it provoke an attack
of opportunity, however it must be the only Potestas activated by the Engel
that round.
Speak in Tongues [wis]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. Allows the Ramielite to send a telepathic
message to another Ramielite even over great distances. The receiving Ramielite
does not need to know the sending, as long as the sending Ramielite knows the
receiving Ramielite, of course after getting the message the Ramielite will
know who sent it. DC 10 (10 Km), DC 20 (100 Km), DC 30 (1000 Km).
Sigil Potestates of the Ramielites
Babylon’s Language [int]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. With the wisdom of the Heavens the Ramielite
is able to understand and speak any language he hears as well as read any language
he sees. This lasts for a number of minutes equal to the check.
Champion of the Lord [wis]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. The revelations of our Lord above begin to
influence the Ramielite, when entering battle the Engel can gain insight into
its outcome and then influence it, gaining an advantage. This Potestas gives
the Ramielite an insight bonus to all attacks as well as a dodge bonus to his
AC. If a Michaelite is using Soul of the Fellowship and follows the advice of
the Ramielite then the entire Fellowship will gain similar bonuses. Check: 5
(+1 bonus for the Ramielite), 15 (+2 bonus for the Ramielite, +1 bonus for the
Fellowship), 25 (+4 bonus for the Ramielite, +2 bonus for the Fellowship), 35
(+6 bonus for the Ramielite, +3 bonus for the Fellowship). This lasts for 1
full minute , but will only continue to benefit the Fellowship as long as the
Michaelite sustains the Soul of the Fellowship and continues to take the Ramielite’s
insightful advice.
The Eighth Commandment [wis]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. Lies and falsehoods ring with a tainted tone
when heard by the Ramielite while using the Eighth Commandment. For the duration
of the Potestas any lie told in the Ramielite’s presence (10 m) will automatically
be known to be false by the Ramielite. This potestas lasts for a number of minutes
equal to the check.
Prophet [wis]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. The Ramielite is now open to receive the
Revelations of Heaven and can predict the near future (7 days max) surrounding
certain events, objects, people or places with a high probability of accuracy.
Check: 20 (ask one question, gain a clear answer). If the same question is asked
a second time without different variables, the answer will be the same.
Scriptura Potestates of the Ramielites
Oracle [wis]
Causes 6 points of subdual damage. With the voice of our Lord above the Ramielite
can speak prophecies and premonitions. DC 20, the Ramielite can ask a single
question about the fate of a single person, place or object in the past, present
or future and gain a useful, though not necessarily clear answer. If the same
question is asked a second time without different variables, the answer will
be the same.
Spirit of the Lord [int]
Causes 6 points of subdual damage. By entering the Cathedral of Thoughts, the
Ramielite may gain access to knowledge he would not otherwise know. For the
duration of the Potestas the Ramielite may use any skill, trained or otherwise,
with a +10 bonus to the skill check. After the duration of the Potestas the
Ramielite loses access to this vast reservoir of knowledge, but does forget
anything he figured out during the duration. He may share this knowledge with
others as well. Check: 10 (1 minute), 20 (5 minutes), 30 (30 minutes).
Spirit over Soul [wis]
Causes 6 points of subdual damage. By watching the subject, the Ramielite is
able to perceive the wishes and thoughts of any being. This allows the Ramielite
to perceive the mood, attitude and feelings of his subject, gaining him a bonus
to Perform, Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Handle Animals and Sense Motive used
against the target. This bonus is 2 +1 for every two class levels. The subject
gets a will save, if successful this Potestas fails, cannot be used by the same
Ramielite upon the same subject for a full 24 hours and the subject is aware
that an attempt has been made to manipulate his mind. The DC for the Will save
equals the Potestas check.
Revelation Potestas of the Ramielites
Cathedral Arch [wis]
Causes 12 points of subdual damage. By touching a subject, the Ramielite may
enter the Cathedral of Thoughts and create an arch, gateway or doorway that
connects the Ramielite’s Cathedral of Thoughts to the mind of the subject.
The touch is required only initially to create the doorway, after which the
Ramielite can choose to utilize the arch at anytime during the duration of the
Potestas. The subject may make a Will save at a DC equal to the Potestas check.
If successful then the Cathedral Arch fails to be created, the subject cannot
be the target of the specific Ramielite’s Potestates again for a full
24 hours and the subject is aware that an attempt has been made to manipulate
his mind. If the arch remains closed, both the Ramielite and the subject may
go about their regular actions without any indication that the Potestas is continuing
to effect them. The duration of this Potestas depends on the check. Check: 5
(1 minute), 10 (5 minutes), 15 (30 minutes), 20 (1 hour), 25 (5 hours), 30 (12
hours), 35 (24 hours).
When the Ramielite decides to open the arch, both the Ramielite and the subject enter into an almost trance in which the events within their minds take up the majority of their concentration. In order to do anything more than walking slowly either of them must make a concentration check. DC 10 once every minute to do something non-stressful such as hold a conversation, run, ride, fly, plant crops, etc. DC 20 once every round to do anything stressful such as enter combat, hide from pursuit or disarm a lethal trap. If successful the events within the mind as well as the environmental events can both be focused on, if unsuccessful then mind or environment must be chosen with a total loss of focus on the other.
When the arch is opened a number of things may happen, the Ramielite may choose to cross over to the subject’s mind or the subject may choose to cross over to the Ramielite’s Cathedral of Thoughts. A Ramielite who creates an arch with another Ramielite will join the two Cathedral of Thoughts and each would see the other’s personal representation of just what a Cathedral of Thoughts would be. A Ramielite who creates an arch with any other being will extend their personal representation of the Cathedral of Thoughts into the other’s mind so that interacting with the other mind will be comfortable. This will be rather unnerving to the subject who will be seeing their own mind represented, thus any non-Ramielite who is the subject of this Potestas will have a -4 penalty to any rolls involving the inner mind events.
Ramielites are masters of their Cathedral of Thoughts, while remaining within their Cathedral they may create any kind of effect to the benefit or even harm of a guest. In order to create any effect they must only will it. If this effect is resisted by the guest then both the Ramielite and their guest make a contested Will check, with a bonus of +4 for the Ramielite being within his own Cathedral of Thoughts. If the Ramielite wins, the effect occurs, such as binding the guest in suddenly appearing ropes or a cage or denying the guest access to the contents of his own Cathedral of Thoughts. If the Ramielite loses then the effect is resisted or escaped. A Ramielite is master of their Cathedral or Thoughts only so long as they remain within, if they leave via the arch then they have no mastery over their Cathedral of Thoughts.
If the Ramielite wishes to harm his guest then again an opposed Will check must be made. A successful attack upon a guest within a Cathedral of Thoughts results in the guest permanently losing a single point of Intelligence. A subject may be rendered dead from repeated attacks if the Ramielite manages to reduce the subject’s Intelligence to 0. A subject who is destroyed in this way remains physically alive until the end of the Potestas, during which time the Ramielite has full access to the victim’s entire mind. Anytime a guest succeeds in avoiding a Ramielite’s attack they may attempt to escape the Cathedral of Thoughts with another opposed Will check. If successful they escape back to the sanctity of their own mind.
Non-Ramielite subjects are not true masters of their own minds since they have no familiarity with such mental disciplines. However they may instinctively defend their own minds from a guest Ramielite. Whenever a Ramielite enters another’s mind and the subject instinctively wishes to keep something secret they must make a contested Will check. If successful, the subject keeps the prying Ramielite out of that section of his mind. A non-Ramielite has no way of inflicting any kind of harm upon a visiting Ramielite and a visiting Ramielite cannot inflict harm upon his host. The subject may also instinctively defend his mind from a Ramielite who is attempting to transfer something from his Cathedral of Thoughts into the subject’s mind.
There are an incredible number of possible uses of this Potestas, from simple shared conversations, actual transferal or copying of knowledge, memories, information, thoughts and wisdom, the access of another’s senses, to the destruction of another will from within their own minds. More than one arch may be created at any one time, whole networks of Ramielite Cathedrals are possible, in theory.
At the end of the duration of the Potestas the arch fades and anyone who is not within their own mind is instantly ripped free of the visited mind and returned just before the arch disappears. Anything that they were attempting to accomplish within their minds is instantly interrupted and ends as both the Ramielite and subject return to normal.

Enlightened Senses [wis]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. The senses of the Urielite can become heightened
to give him a bonus to all Listen, Search and Spot checks. This bonus is 4 +1
for every 2 class levels. Check: 1 (1 round), 5 (1 minute), 15 (5 minutes),
25 (30 minutes), 35 (3 hours).
Lord’s Path [wis]
Causes no subdual damage. The Urielite has an instinctive understanding of the
earth below the Heavens above, giving him a bonus to all Intuit Direction checks,
allowing him to find any location described to him and if he is already familiar
with a location he can give detailed instructions to someone else on how to
get there. Anytime the Urielite must make an Intuit Direction check, first roll
a check for Lord’s Path and add the result to the Intuit Direction roll
as a bonus. This Potestas does not need to be activated and is to be considered
always active.
Messenger’s Fortitude [con]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. The stamina of the Preservers of the Ways
is legendary, allowing them to fly, fight, hold their breath, etc, longer than
humanely possible. The bonus to Constitution and duration of the Potestas both
depend upon the check. Check: 5 (+2 for 1 hour), 15 (+4 for 5 hours), 25 (+6
for 24 hours), 35 (+8 for 48 hours). This bonus increases by +1 for every five
class levels.
Water from Stone [wis]
Causes 1 point of subdual damage. Calling upon their divine connection to nature,
Urielites may gain an understanding of their surroundings. For the next 24 hours
the Urielite may roll a Potestas check and add the result as a bonus to any
Wilderness Lore check to find food, water or shelter.
Sigil Potestates of the Urielites
Assisi [wis]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. The Urielite can call upon his divine connection
to nature to calm creatures of the wild. Any creature with an intelligence of
2 or less within range will become calm and ignore the Urielite or approach
him in friendship depending on which effect the Urielite wills. Trained animals
or Dreamseed creatures get a Will save against this with a DC equal to the Potestas
check. The maximum number of creatures effected are 2d4 + class level worth
of hit die, effecting the closest animals first. Check: 10 (range 10m), 20 (range
100m), 30 (range 1000m).
Eyes of the Sentinel [wis]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. The Urielite can attune his eyes to the absence
of light, gaining a darksight (black, white and shades of grey) of 18m + 1m
for every 2 class levels. Check: 10 (1 hour), 20 (6 hours), 30 (24 hours).
Thief in the Night [con]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. The Urielite can call upon his divine connection
to nature, manifesting physically throughout his skin and wings to take on a
chamaeleon like quality of shifting colors to blend into his surroundings. This
doesn’t effect his possessions or cloths, but is still effective by wrapping
his wings around himself. For the duration of the Potestas the Urielite can
roll a Potestas check and add the result as a bonus to a Hide check. Initial
Check: 10 (1 hour), 20 (6 hours), 30 (24 hours).
Trail of Blood [con]
Causes 3 points of subdual damage. The Urielite can leave a trail that can only
be perceived by other Urielites, seen and smelt as blood. This trail clings
to whatever the Urielite touches or floats upon the air as the Urielite flies.
For a full 12 hours the Urielite can leave the trail for his order to follow,
the trail itself lasts for a duration depending on the Potestas check. Check:
5 (trail lasts 12 hours after the Potestas ends), 15 (trail lasts 60 hours after
the Potestas ends), 25 (trail lasts a full week after the Potestas ends), 35
(trail lasts a full month after the Potestas ends).
Scriptura Potestates of the Urielites
One With Creation [con]
Causes 6 points of subdual damage. The Urielites divine connection to nature
is so strong now that he may adapt his physical body to whatever environment
he finds himself in. For the duration of the Potestas the Urielites body adapts
to his environment, allowing him to breath underwater, withstand extremes of
natural cold or heat, survive within the poisonous air of a brandland, withstand
the pressures of the deep oceans, consume poisons without succumbing to their
ill effects, etc. Check: 10 (1 hour), 20 (6 hours), 30 (24 hours).
Flaming Final [con]
Causes the death of the Urielite. The Urielite, at the moment of his death,
may initiate a chemical reaction that causes his blood to erupt from his body.
This coats anything nearby and allows any Urielite within 1 mile to immediately
sense the blood and be able to find the site of the Engel’s demise. Anything
touched by the blood that leaves the area leaves a trail that can be followed
only by any Urielite. This trail lasts for a duration dependant on the check.
Anything touched by the blood will have a mark upon them that will be visible
only to any Urielite. The only way of removing this mark is by burning it away.
Check: 5 (trail lasts 12 hours), 15 (trail lasts 60 hours), 25 (trail lasts
a full week), 35 (trail lasts a full month). This Potestas may be activated
as a free action, does not require a concentration check to activate and can
be used regardless of any other Potestas that might have been activated in the
same round.
Vision in the Night [wis]
Causes 6 points of subdual damage. The senses of the Urielite become so intensely
connected to his surroundings that in effect the Urielite can act as though
he were in a clear sunny day regardless of the actual lighting conditions he
may find himself in. This Potestas does not fully rely upon his sense of sight,
even blinded the Urielite can still sense his surroundings as though his eyes
were fully functional during a clear sunny day. This also gives him a bonus
of 4 +1 for every 2 class levels to all Listen, Search and Spot checks. Check:
10 (1 hour), 20 (6 hours), 30 (24 hours). Vision in the Night cannot be activated
with Heightened Senses in order to gain double the bonus to Listen, Search and
Spot checks.
Revelation Potestas of the Urielites
Divine Retainer [cha]
Causes 12 points of subdual damage and a permanent loss of 1 hit point for every
hit die the animal has. The Urielite can forge a permanent bond between himself
and any animal with an Intelligence of 2 or less who the Urielite has befriended.
The forging of the bond requires the animal to be touched for a full minute
upon the animal’s head, during which the Urielite permanently loses 1
hit point for every hit die the animal possesses. The animal is immediately
bonded to the Urielite, becoming a loyal companion, but also begins to change
over the next 24 hours after which a small series of Signum can be seen about
the head and legs of the animal. During ths 24 hour period the animal is helpless,
though not in any pain.
The divine bond and favor bestows an attribute bonus to the animal as it joins
the Urielite as a divine servant of our Lord above. Check: 15 (+1 bonus to Str,
Dex and Con), 25 (+2 bonus to Str, Dex and Con, +1 bonus to Wis and Int), 35
(+4 bonus to Str, Dex and Con, +2 bonus to Wis and Int). For every 5 class levels,
the Urielite gains an additional point that he can place as a bonus attribute
increase on any one of the Animal’s attributes, chosen by the Urielite,
during the initial formation of the bond.
The two bonded divine servants will always be able to sense which direction and distance they are from each other as well as each other’s emotional and physical condition. The Urielite may concentrate upon their bond to mentally give commands to the divine retainer or even gain access to the animal’s own senses for a short time. The DC of the Potestas check to do this depends on the distance of the retainer. DC 10 (10 Km), DC 20 (100 Km), DC 30 (1000 Km). This causes 1 point of subdual damage and lasts for a duration of 1 minute per class level.
If the divine retainer ever dies the Urielite does not regain his lost hit points and the backlash of the lost companion causes 1d12 subdual damage for every hit die the animal had. This backlash is instantaneous as the animal dies, regardless of the animal’s distance from his Urielite master. There is no limit to the number of divine retainers any single Urielite can have at any one time, other than the permanent loss of hit points caused by the formation of this powerful heavenly bond.
